Hi Jetsetters,

Well we are off and running again with the Summer City Night Competition now underway.
We hope you all enjoyed some time off over the school holidays, and we look forward to seeing you all continuing to develop over the summer season.
A big welcome to our new families and players who have joined Jets for Summer 2018, and welcome back to all our existing Club girls and families as well.

I’d also like to welcome back our previous Club Coaches and new Coaches to the Club for Summer 2018. Thank you for volunteering your time and efforts towards the development of our girls.

New Jets Coaches:

  • Senior A: Kaylah Eglinton
  • Senior B: Taylor Klomp
  • Academy Black: Sally Saint
  • Sub Junior 3 Coach: Emily Sowsberry

At the end of September, we held our Winter 2018 Junior Presentation Night, followed by our Senior Presentation Night in mid-October, both events were held at the Woodville West Torrens Football Club. A big thank you to the Fundraising Committee for putting together such great nights. The feedback has been very positive, with lots of laughs, dancing and fun had by all. It really is wonderful to see our players and families enjoying some time together as ‘One Club’ at the end of the winter season.

A big thank you to our Coaches, Team Managers, Umpires, volunteers, players and families for the efforts they put in throughout the year. And a BIG congratulations to our Club players who won awards on the night!

Over the summer season, our focus as a Club, is on the skill development and game progression of our players, this is facilitated through our Summer Training Nights, our Academy Program and our Premier League Preseason Program.

I encourage you all to get the most out of your summer netball with Metro Jets, by working hard, playing to the best of your ability, increasing your skill level and most of all – enjoying your Netball!

Good Luck for the rest of the Summer season. Go Jets!

Metro Jets Winter Trials 2019

Jets Academy

Jets Academy Going Again

The Jets Academy program for emerging talent is underway with two teams receiving specialised court skills, fitness and leadership sessions being conducted by our Premier League Coaching Team. The program will run until December and includes the elevation of both teams in the CND Summer competition (primarily Junior players), competing in the Intermediate 1 & 2 divisions.

The Academy group will be working hard with games on Tuesday nights, court work Thursday nights, Leadership Friday nights, and fitness/conditioning on Sunday mornings. The Club has been impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication shown by the players and we look forward to seeing some push for selection in our top pathway divisions come Winter 2019.

Premier League

The Jets PL trials have just concluded with a squad of 30 players being chosen to participate in the preseason program.

We’ve added several new athletes to the program bringing new and exciting skill sets and personalities, so we are looking forward to getting started.
Three Inter aged players have also been included which shows that our Club pathway program is working, another positive move forward for the Club.

This Friday the squad will come together for our first official meeting, where the preseason program will be explained in greater detail.

At the beginning of February, the preseason squad will be redressed to finalise our squad for 2019. Our first official engagement for 2019 is the Preseason Cup on March 16th.

Along with new members to the squad, we have added two new coaches to the team:

  • Premier League Assistant Coach: Scott Fort
  • Premier League Reserves Assistant Coach: Julie Wakefield

Both coaches bring knowledge, skills and vast experience to complement our existing coaching panel.

We look forward to working hard, building our fitness, strength, resilience and abilities as part of the overall Premier League program.

Summer Development Training

On Tuesday 23 October we had our first development training session for the summer season. It was really pleasing to see approximately 60 players across the primary, sub-junior and junior grades take advantage of the skills session, which this week focused on basic foot work and passing.

The season then finished off with practice matches where coaches were able to look at different positioning for their own team.

This summer we will be holding 6 development sessions to assist the players in developing their skills as well as getting to know their teammates and new players. GO JETS!

Umpires Word

Well, the Summer Season is underway & our umpires are back into it. This season the goal for our Umpiring Program is to develop our younger umpires in preparation for the Winter 2019 season.

Umpire of the Year Award

Jets Umpires

Congratulations to Ava Roles for being the recipient of the Metro Jets “Umpire of the Year” award. The Metro Jets Umpiring award is awarded to a young umpire that shows a deep passion and keenness for the sport. It is awarded to someone who is not only focused on their own development, but someone who puts back into the club by volunteering to umpire training sessions and various club activities. Ava has shown potential beyond her years – she exceeds my expectations every time she steps on court.

A BIG congratulations also for achieving her National C Badge at the Mellor Olsson Academy Games in October. We look forward to seeing Ava’s progression in years to come.

A reminder to all umpires, to collect you umpiring money from the Duty Office immediately after your game.
City Night will not follow up forgotten payments.
